Supportive Education

We place great importance on a supportive network for all our students in lower and upper secondary education. Often, the support provided by the existing multi-professional class teams or counselling teams is sufficient. However, sometimes more is needed: together with parents, we establish individual support networks. We have integrated various methods into our everyday school life for this purpose, such as the “Support Planning in the Team” method. We also pay particular attention to exchange within the class teams. To this end, our annual schedule includes fixed team times so that we can work together to provide high-quality educational support.

Students with Special Educational Needs

We are a barrier-free school. We are able to teach students with all special educational needs: in learning, language and behaviour, as well as with the special educational focus on intellectual development (GE), vision, hearing, autism and the special educational focus “physical and motor development”. In addition, we cooperate with other counselling providers, such as the Regional Counselling and Support Centre (RebuZ), the Education and Counselling Centre for Pedagogy and Illness, or the Office for Social Services.

Support in an Inclusive Setting

In our focus classes, we provide support in an inclusive setting. This means that the lower secondary class teams are staffed with two teachers during lessons—depending on support needs, for 15 hours, or in the GE area for over 30 hours. In addition, school support staff are deployed to support individual students. In the GE area, the focus class is generally staffed with inclusion specialists.

In Year 5, we form multi-professional, permanent teams for each class, consisting of school social workers, special and inclusion educators, and school support staff, who accompany our students from Year 5 to Year 10. In this way, through a strong relationship with our students, we are able to support them both in their personal development and in a successful school career.

Support for Gifted Students

We create space for particularly gifted students, and we identify and foster individual talents and potential. This may be in the area of languages, music or natural sciences, but also in a talent for a trade. Together with the students, we set support goals and assist them in their development.
