The Language Village is an action-oriented teaching concept in which everyday situations are simulated in a foreign language. At various stations, such as a café, a shop, or a tourist information office, students take on different roles and communicate actively in the target language.
The Language Village is conducted in grade 8 for French and Spanish classes and in grade 9 for English classes. For one day, classrooms are transformed into restaurants, flea markets, or newsstands, and students become customers, waiters, and shop assistants. The goal is to strengthen oral language skills and reduce inhibitions about speaking. By practically applying vocabulary and phrases in realistic situations, learning is made particularly motivating and sustainable. Feedback from students is consistently positive!
