To consolidate basic mathematical skills and, in particular, the foundations of understanding, the project “Confident in Maths” developed diagnostic and support materials for students who struggle with mathematics and for their teachers. The concept follows three didactic principles: a focus on understanding, diagnosis-led instruction, and the promotion of communication.
In the 2025/26 school year, GSO began the project. At present, three mathematics teachers are qualifying for it through a two-year professional development programme. The project continues to expand, so that the majority of mathematics teachers will complete this training.
The project supports approximately six students in each Year 5 and Year 6 class and takes place at the same time as one of the practice sessions.
